Ode to Jill

By the UMA English Department (May 2015)

These words we share on Jill’s retirement

for dedicated years that she has spent

Accumulating devotees – Jillettes

will surely miss her, as will her peers: our regrets

to lose her wit, her charm, her attention to detail,

her crossed ts, dotted is — all without fail,

her Plunkett service, humor, intellect.

For this and more we are humbly in her debt.

From Austen to Shakespeare with gentility,

Jill brought such sense to Sensibility.

Our students she inspired and informed,

their literary minds she so transformed.

We now see Jill in the twilight of such day

and wish her well as she leaves UMA.
